How long have you been tattooing?
As of June 2017, I have ten years of tattoo experience. I'm constantly pushing myself to create and learn to bring my clients the best work I can.
Does it hurt?
All tattoos hurt. Once you get the initial feel for it, the pain is more of an annoyance then an unbearable pain.
How should I prepare for my tattoo appointment? And/or It's my first one.
If you are under the age of 18, please bring along a photo ID of some sort as well as your birth certificate. A parent or legal guardian must be present for paperwork before we start your tattoo. I also need a photo ID from said parent or legal guardian.
Make sure to have a good meal at least an hour before your appointment. Bring along a sugary drink and snack. Please wear appropriate clothing or bring along clothes to change into that allows me easy access to the area being tattooed.
How do I care for my new tattoo?
Always wash hands prior to handling a new tattoo
Lather soap in hands with an antibacterial fragrance free soap, preferably liquid Dial Gold. Gently wash tattoo and rinse with lukewarm water. Either pat dry with a clean paper towel or allow to air dry. Wait 10-15 minutes to dry completely then apply a thin layer of fragrance free body lotion. Ex: Curel, Lubriderm, Eucerin etc. If it burns wash it off immediately. And use a different lotion. If you decide to use Aquaphor or another ointment based product, a small amount goes a long way. Using too much will clog your pores and could result in healing issues.
To help with soreness, use Bactine Antibacterial Spray. You can use this after washing, spray it on, let it dry, then apply lotion as directed. Or simply spray it on throughout the day. It helps amazingly with the soreness and also keeps it clean during the first few days of the healing process.
If you experience swelling, take Ibuprofen.
