Ethos: Greek n. Character, the spirit of a people, a civilization or a system as expressed in it's culture, institutions, ways of thought and philosophy. We see tattoos as the one thing you can take with you. They illustrate milestones, expressions of self, deeply symbolic representations of turmoil and tragedy, of wonder, love and celebration. We understand there are many reasons people decide to get tattoos and that they are usually rooted in self expression, growth, transition and change as part of the vast tapestry of life. In short we believe your tattoo should be personal, deep, meaningful art that you can wear with pride for a lifetime.
As a Tattooist I draw inspiration from such greats as Ed Hardy (Wear Your Dreams), Good Time Charlie, Jack Rudy and Freddie Negrete who understand the importance and responsibility of a tattooist extracting the essence of the client's wishes and choreographing thought forms into a cohesive visual representation of the client's initial ideas.
Artistic integrity is paramount, bringing vision into reality is a journey which should not be undertaken lightly. Ethos Tattoo Artistry prides itself on seeing this journey to fruition in order to give you, the client, the best possible outcome. We believe that it pays to invest time in a tattoo that's unique and unforgettable rather than generic and regrettable.
Due to the nature of tattooing as a medium, the work will, most likely, be spread over more than one sitting. Allowing the line work time to heal before the colour is applied is a given, but further sessions for high and low lighting will really make the work pop. The more time you invest in the work the better the result. From an artistic stand point the work will remain on the books as incomplete until both the Artist and client are 100% satisfied with the piece.
Every person who comes to Ethos for tattoo work is offered basic healing for the duration of the session. We have found that when Teal Lightfoot uses Reiki (Chi or life force energy) and her spiritual connection during the tattoo clients seldom bleed, are much less prone to twitching and discomfort than without. This dramatically decreases the time it takes to complete the tattoo and reduces trauma to the skin from wiping. Due to the nature of Reiki and Spiritual healing you may find the healing ripple out to areas of your body or life that need it. The intention of the healing is always one of compassion from a foundation of love and light without the confines of religion, for the longevity of the ink and the highest good and well being of the client at this moment in time. Teal performs basic healing remotely; she does not need to be in the room, more in depth healing is available and can be performed whilst being tattooed or as a separate appointment
